Your Degree Might Make You Poor While Your Certificate Can Make You Rich

The world has gone beyond paper qualification. Big technology and non technological companies today now employ someone who gets the job done and not someone who has the paper qualification without practical knowledge or skills to get the job done.

Most rich people didn't become rich by applying what they learned in higher institution of learning, if not every graduate will be rich. It is more financially reasonable to get economic viable certificate with practical knowledge and skills relevant to 21st century market economy.

However, it is not out of place to combine your Certificate with relevant professional skills acquired through professional courses, that can give you an heads-way to financial freedom

Why most graduates are poor today with their robust certificate it is because they over depend on paper qualifications birth by an institution that uses obsolete materials in dominant theoretical knowledge with little or no practical use of so called certificate

This article features an eyes opening content that will help you see things from a different perspective and walk in the right path to riches in which I have taken the bold step too. Read on.

LAWS OF FINANCE

There are 2 types of Laws of finance:

1} LAW OF POVERTY.

2} LAW OF WEALTH.

*1} LAW OF POVERTY:* This law states that work alone or work under someone and remain poor for the rest of your life. 95% of people in the world are living under this law.

The people under this law make use of their credentials, they have ego, they seek for job, they have someone called boss, they receive salary which is fixed amount.

*S.A.L.A.R.Y*

S= Small

A= Amount

L= Limiting

A= And

R= Restricting

Y= You

These people are called the working class. They always look for job.

*J.O.B*

J= Just

O= Over

B= Broke

*2} LAW OF WEALTH:* This law states that work with a team or group of people and remain wealthy forever, it is just 5% of people in the world that are living under this law.

The people under this law make use of their potentials, and they are called the thinking class, they think of what to offer to the society and in turn make money.

These people they earn their money which is income and it is not a fixed amount. These people are called the thinking class.

_The difference between these laws is that the people under the_ *LAW OF POVERTY* _don't make use of opportunity.. why those under the_ *LAW OF WEALTH* _make use of any opportunity that comes their way.

The wealthy ones make use of *ID Number* and also *Partnership,* they have what is called big dreams but the poor don't have._

The reason you aren’t making so much money is that you don’t have any high paying skills in demand.

Companies, CEO, and MDs are looking for skilful people to help them execute tasks.

The economy of most countries around the world is gradually leaving the Certificate-based way of employment and now focusing on skill sets.

There are basically two ways now to get a job.

1- Knowing someone to help you

2- Helping yourself

As long as you don’t have someone to help you get a job or make money, you should then help yourself by having any of the high paying skills that is highly in demand.

Do you know that as big as America is, there is still a very high demand for Web Developers? What then can we say of Nigeria that is still playing catch up

Web Development

There is a wide gap between the demand and supply of this high paying skill, with a great deficit.

The demand for professional Web Developers outweighed the supply it got – don’t bother asking why because I will explain.

Majority of Developers in Nigeria prefer to work on their own than getting employed in a company. Same trend occurs in other part of the world.

This has left a huge deficit, making Developers handle several jobs at a stretch – while other certificate oriented graduates are begging for jobs.

The good news is that once you register here to become a Web Developer, it will take you just 3 months to become a professional. Once you are done, you’ll welcome yourself to a world of financial dependency.

This is one Information Technology skill that has made under-21s in Nigeria millionaires. The question is what are you waiting for?

Digital Marketing

The last time I decided to work for people as a Digital Marketer, I ended up handling the online marketing campaign for 3 firms at a go.

Nothing beats the fact that you can work on your own and under your own conditions. This is one interesting Information Technology area that can land you a job even outside Nigeria.

The good news about learning Digital Marketing is that you can work for others, and still work for yourself simultaneously. It is even more profitable when you work for yourself full-time.

This high paying skill can be learnt just within 2 months; but for the sake of becoming a professional and knowing the secrets behind carrying out successful online marketing campaigns, it tends to span into 3 months of fun learning.

Graphic Design

Unless you are living in the 80’s, then you probably shouldn’t see this as a lucrative skill to learn. Every company, individual, and organization, needs a graphic designer to help in all aspect of their lives.

Graphics Design has been seen as one of the most lucrative skills on freelancing sites. Once you are able to master this skill within 3 months, you are already on your way to becoming a millionaire – if you work so hard.

There are several lucrative packages under graphics designing, and it is one of the high paying skills that will make you so much money.

Amazon Kindle Writing

So many times, I see young people who have writing ability but can’t transform it into a money-spinning venture.

The main reason for this is lack of knowledge; as long as you don’t have the idea that you as a writer can make money from Amazon publishing, you will end up making peanuts as a writer.

Writers on Amazon can make about $300 monthly as a source of lifetime income – and this has the potential of increasing to about $500 within 3 months.

These are the simple steps to make money from Amazon

1. Register on Amazon Kindle

2. Fill out the necessary information

3. Attach the necessary extensions that will help you carry out your job

4. Write your book and publish.

Content Development

Content developing can be referred to as authoring or originating content for any medium. Content developer develops content for any medium.
Content developers often use their skills, knowledge and experience in software and programming as well as web-based technology or SEO, to create and update quality content for websites and blogs.

Adobe Creative Suite.

Can you use Photoshop? What about
Dreamweaver, Illustrator or InDesign?
Learning one or all of these Adobe programs is an indispensable skill for creative
professionals, and could help your career and
personal life in ways you never imagined. Try a course on Lynda.

 Programming/Coding skill
Coding is learning any of these skills; Fortran, Java, C++, Python, MySQL, Oracle, HTML, etc. I intentionally include Fortran because it was what I used and still using along with C++ for my research work. Although it is an old language it can make a lot of difference in your life if you learn it.
If you can learn any of the languages and good at it especially Java, Oracle, MySQL, C++ etc., you a hot cake.

Typing Skill
Typing skill is an icing on the cake. It makes you perfectly fit into the digital word. And it can be learned by installing software like mavis beacon on your laptop.
Microsoft office suite
I will recommend that you learn how to use Microsoft Excel. This is a powerful tool that can assist you in data analysis. One of the interesting features of Microsoft Excel is that it can do some of what you use C++ and Fortran programming language to do.

Skills to develop to secure your dream jobs

Have you ever gone through the big companies Job requirements? Most of the companies require you to have skills in the following areas
  • Communication
  • Leadership
  • Analytical
  • Creative and Innovative skill
  • Organization skill
  • Ability to learn quickly, identify issues, and propose innovative solutions
As long as you have any of these high paying skills in Nigeria or anywhere in the world, you can make money as fast as possible without stress. If you are ready, then you need to just take action as fast as possible.

 *REMEMBER THESE TODAY*

Money does not respond to qualifications
Otherwise the wealthiest people should have been *Ph.D holders.*

Money does not respond to age Otherwise the world's oldest twins would have been the *richest.*

‍ It is not about your *degree*

It is all about what you do after the *degree.*

‍Have you noticed that the 1st class degree holders are not the *Richest*
Neither are the *3rd class degree holders the poorest.*
There is more to being wealthy than education.

The most important thing is  *Mindset*  and the next thing is a *Commitment to self DISCIPLINE.*

The only person holding your key to success is *YOU.*

The secrets to success is for you to be willing to pay the price but the challenge is that very few are ready and willing to pay the price to succeed.

While some are partying and gisting, others are learning, planning and earning.

Don't sit down and complain about where you are, it won't change anything.

If you must see changes, the person that must change is *You*.

Be assured... *YOU HAVE ALL IT TAKES TO Succeed,* learn to invest  the little you have and get a mentor to teach you how to grow your money.

DEGREE VS CERTIFICATIONS : Which Should You Go For?

CERTIFICATION GIVES YOU PROFIT FASTER

When I say profit, I mean the return on investment. When you get trained as a web developer, you start earning money even before you conclude your studies.
So when we say a Certification is better than a Degree, we mean with respect to ROI.
The return on investment for those who acquire top skills much higher than waiting for 5 years to get a university degree.

SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO ACQUIRE CERTIFICATIONS

If you don’t have the right skill, you might end up not acquiring a certification. What makes a professional stand out from an armature is the skill they have. When it comes to a sensitive industry like Information Technology, you depend more on practical than theoretical jargons.
In most certification exams, you prove your ability to have understood both the practical and theoretical aspect of the course.
This is what Human Resource Managers term as a complete worker who is ready to hit the ground and running.

CERTIFICATIONS HAVE UNIVERSAL STANDARDS

When it comes to acquiring certifications, there is no lowering of standards to favour anyone. The level playing ground in acquiring Certifications is one major reason why Human Resource Managers feel that a Certification is better than a Degree.
Whether you studied in Canada, Russia, or Nigeria, the standard is universal. This shows that before you pass a certification exam, you have to show the same skill and competence level like someone who studied in a country different from yours.
However, this cannot be said for those with a degree. The conditions vary, thus making it an unrealistic yardstick to qualify candidates.
No one has the capacity to truly verify a degree, but the same can’t be said for a certification that is universally accepted.

CERTIFICATIONS DON’T HAVE GEOGRAPHICAL LIMITATIONS

In top-tier countries, no one gives you a job because you have a First Class in Political Science. The political climate of your country and theirs can never be the same.

But when you have a certification in a course that is globally accepted, it gives you the leverage to penetrate the global market.
When you penetrate the global market, you are treated like someone who has something to offer. The same can’t happen to a degree that is geographically limited.

CERTIFICATIONS ARE EASIER TO ACQUIRE

This is just the irony of the whole debate. You spend an approximate period of 4 – 5 years to gain a college degree, and spend just a few months to get a certification.
University degrees are somewhat expensive, and the job opportunities that come along aren’t so interesting unlike when you have a certification.
Certifications are cheaper in terms of cost and duration. So if you mind getting one, it would be one of your best decisions.

EMPLOYERS FOCUS ON THOSE WITH SKILLS NOT DEGREES

An HR officer told me she would rather employ someone with a certification than a degree. With the increase in universities, degrees, employers are having a difficult trying to find those with the right skills to hire.
They believe that majority of graduates with college degrees aren’t employable, leaving a great opportunity for those with the skill and certification to get employed.
If you want to catch the attention of any employer on any social platform, then you should pitch your skills more than your degree.
Getting the right skill and certification even before getting your college degree has lots of advantage in the job market.
I have given you the reasons why a Certification is better than a Degree. The final decision boils down to you. You can ask questions regarding this subject matter, and I will be happy to answer them all.

REASONS WHY AFRICANS ARE POOR

I remember those days in the economics class when our teacher taught us that there are “three worlds,” first world countries, second world countries and the third world countries.

Some of us wondered why there are three worlds, until it was properly explained by our teaher that those worlds are actually categorized according to their economy. Unfortunately, most countries in our dear continent (Africa) are referred to as the third world countries.

Why are Africans so poor?

Some people are of the opinion that, it was due to the about unusually long 500 years of colonization.

Why there is no doubt we were greatly affected by this long years of enslavement, I am of the opinion that we can, or should have healed that wound. I don’t know what you think. That’s what I think.

Some other people are of the opinion that our poverty is due to bad political leaders. While I would have loved to agree with this, I can help but to disagree. Why?

Because leaders of any given society, club or country are just the picture of that society, club or country at large.

This is what I mean. People are trained by the society. The value system of that given society is what teaches them what to believe, how to behave, what to pursue with their lives and how to lead their people. That is the reason why Joseph Maistre said, “every nation has the government it deserves.”

You take for instance, an average American boy of age 16 may be happy to spend the rest of his life in the laboratory finding the cure for AIDS or Ebola. Why? Because he has been trained in a society that appreciates sacrifice for a better humanity.

Suggest a similar idea to an African boy of the same age and you will blame yourself, if you’re lucky not to see his parents’ anger.

When a society defines success as making the world a better place and another society defines success as building five houses, do you think both of them will produce the same kinds of leaders? You know the answer. Yes. An average political leader in Africa is a thief. But I have the reason not to blame them, instead, I dare to blame our values as a continent. Believe me, the president of your country will not change when he becomes a president. Presidency only gives him an opportunity to reveal his true self … that self our society built in him from his age 3-40.

So if I think we should have overcome the pain of colonization and I am of the opinion that our leaders are not the reason for our poverty… instead, they are the real picture of who we are, what then are the causes of our poverty? You get it?

Who we are, how we live, what we believe, etc. Let me explain one after another.

7 Reasons why Africans are poor.

1. Most Africans are religious, but not spiritual.

I don’t know why I started here but let’s move on anyway. Religion is a significant part of Africans, but unfortunately, average Africans really don’t know how God works. Most Africans (blindly) believe that God can make them rich, if they will pray enough. This is heresy and unbiblical. I love the way, a pastor puts it, “God doesn’t give us money. He gives us business ideas and strength to work it out.”

God doesn’t give anybody money and praying for money is as good as praying for maize. Yes, God is the one who gives us maize to eat, but we are the one to plant it. Though we may pray that it rains at the appropriate time, we have responsibility to go into the bush and get dirty.

Do you go to the mountain to pray for 21 days because you want God to give you maize? If no, you don’t have to go to the mountain to beg God to give you money. He is willing to give you money. He loves you and has already prepared all the money you need to live a good life, even before you were born.

Read Matthew 6:8 and see what Jesus says there; your Father (God) already knows what you need, even before you ask.

God loves you and he is willing to give you money, but you have to understand how money is being made. Just as there are principles of planting, growing and harvesting maize, there are principles of money making.

2. Most Africans hate knowledge, including financial knowledge.

In the last point above, I made it known that farmers have to understand the principles of planting, growing and harvesting maize. How do they understand this? Well, not by praying or fasting but by learning.

My grandfather was a farmer. He taught my father how to farm. My father taught all of us how to farm. Without the knowledge of how to plant maize, grow it, protect it from animals and insects and harvesting it, you can go and pray for 40 days, you cannot have a good maize farm.

Money making has principles… which has to be learned like someone reading a book. These principles have long being discovered by rich men of old, starting from Abraham. These men (not Abraham now) have written so many books to reveal their secrets.

Till today, book is still the greatest revealer of secrets. But Africans will not read. If you want to hide something from an African, they say, keep it in a book.

I have tears in my heart.

I am crying and telling my fellow continent people, we cannot be richer than other people around us except we know what they don’t know.

May be I should repeat that.

You cannot be richer than people around you … until you know what they don`t know. Abraham was not rich because God gave him money. Open your Bible and read it. Father Abraham was rich because he knew what others didn’t know.

While many people in his days were working as labourers (what you’ll call employees today), Abraham was a business man with hundreds of staff (over 300 to be specific). Until we start learning, reading and upgrading our minds, Africa will forever be poor.

3. Most Africans still love job.

When will Africans start to hate job? We have to start to hate job today! We have to start telling our young children from age 9 and above that job is not available again, and if it is available, it is no more good like the days of our fathers. We are very poor because we love job.

4. Most Africans are not business oriented.

There was a time I was reading about the youngest female millionaire, Elizabeth Holmes, who started her company at the age of 19 (just as Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder did) and she later dropped out of school when her business required that she did so. How did a 19 year old lady get courage to start a business?

Because she (and millions other young Americans) have been rightly oriented that job is a mess and that becoming a business owner is greatly rewarding. What do you think an average African 19 year old guy and girl is doing?

Watching football matches, following fashion trends or best, getting busy with school to earn good certificate. Nobody is out there to tell our young adults that they are the hope of this continent, that they are the ones to create jobs for themselves and others, that they have to be entrepreneurs and not employees.

How can we be rich as a continent when we are not creating businesses?

5. Africans are poor because we run businesses like mere “buying and selling.”

While majority of Africans don’t think about being business owners, those who think (or who condition forced to be business owners) are not running business like 21st century business, instead, they are running business like 15th century’s business. You know, in the 15th century, all you have to do is to figure out a product or service to sell. If you can smile a little people will love you and patronize your business.

Now however, business requires more strategies and innovations than ever before, just as the name of Seth Godin’s book sounds, Purple Cow. If it is not purple cow (unique), nobody sees it or buys it. If you’re dull and your product/service is dumb, nobody notices you.

Most Africans are dull and their businesses are dumb. More of the reasons (should you care to know) lie on what I discussed with you in the second point above… knowledge!

6. Africans are poor because an average African is irresponsible.

After all I am your brother, so you won’t say I am abusing Africans. Most Africans are so much concerned about what they get, and not what they give. Few years ago, I heard a man of about age 30 complaining that his father didn’t give him money (or something like that).

How dumb is that? Very dumb!!!

An average 16 year old boy in many advanced countries of the world has being planning how he will get out of his father’s home and create his own life. Most 30 years old Africans still see themselves as infants, who need help. We love to receive a ready-made, stress free success.

Unfortunately, maize doesn’t come to life until a farmer gets dirty. Africans have to (urgently) wake up and be responsible.

7. Africans are poor because we are still proud of school and certificate.

I can see a time coming, when our so called universities and polytechnics will all be destroyed and our youths will be taught to embrace education in its true sense, but for now, the situation is pathetic.

I have said it before now, universities and polytechnics are not giving the kinds of education we need now and therefore should be upgraded at par with developed countries. There will ever be poverty in Africa until people embrace education and not certificate.

As for me, library and google are the best universities there are in the 21st century in accordance with practical education that's urgently needed in Africa not the obsolete materials with little or no practical knowledge or information in various African institutions.

Read. Read and read!!!.

You want to be rich and wealthy? Go and start reading books about business and wealth creation. Do you desire a better marriage? Visit a bookshop and buy some good books about marriage. Do you desire to be more spiritual? Search google, download some great books written by the great Christians of old.

Read and read, then you’ll know how to be rich, how to have a great marriage, how to be more spiritual and how to do just anything worthwhile.

Does school teach you how to be rich? Does school teach you how to have a great marriage? Does school teach you how to be spiritual? Then, what does school teach us?

Africans have to start loving education (not school) if we want to be rich.
